2022 Moisture Festival: Opening March 17

Hot Damn Scandal finds its songs under park benches and in forgotten alleyways. The resulting outlaw ballads, dirty jazz, circus freakouts, ragtime sea-shanties, string band funk, lonesome heart-breakers, and whiskey bottle love songs blend together in a sweet song syrup somewhere between a ramble and a roar. If Tom Waits, Django Reinhardt, and Mississippi John Hurt had met in a New Orleans carnival, stayed up all night under a bridge writing songs, and decided to form a band, the results might sound something like Hot Damn Scandal. Sometimes called ‘Tipsy American Gypsy Blues’, Hot Damn Scandal pulls no punches and puts thunder in your molasses. Band members include Stinky Pete Irving on Resonator Guitar and Lead Vocals, Harper Stone on Washboard, Jimmy Austin on Trombone, Sarah Covert-Bowlds on Tenor Saxaphone, Chandra Johnson on Fiddle, Kris Staples-Weyrauch on Electric Guitar, and Mickey Stylin on Upright Bass.”
