2022 Moisture Festival: Opening March 17

Ben Wendel and Rachel Nehmer met as biology students at Haverford
College. After a successful stint as lab partners, the couple decided
to try out a new kind of collaboration–this time in the air! After
graduation in 2004, Rachel and Ben relocated to Seattle, where they
spent several years creating their trapeze number at the School of
Acrobatics and New Circus Arts (SANCA) before deciding to permanently
retire from science and devote themselves to a life in the circus.

Duo Madrona debuted their stunning act in 2006 right here at the
Moisture Festival! They kicked off their international career in 2008
at the prestigious 29th Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris,
France. Following the festival, they returned to the US for Circus
Flora’s 2008 season. In 2009, the duo proudly joined the rotating cast
of artists at Teatro Zinzanni’s famed spiegeltent dinner show in
Seattle and San Francisco. Ben and Rachel also collaborated with
Circus Syzygy to produce original, collectively-directed shows both in
Seattle and in Toulouse, France. Additional European appearances
include the Tigerpalast Variete in Frankfurt, Germany; a 48-village
tour of Switzerland under the big top with Circus Monti, and two
seasons with Palazzo’s “The Ball of the Graf” in Rotterdam,
Netherlands, and Nuremberg, Germany.

Ben and Rachel are very happy to be back at home in Seattle to
celebrate the Moisture Festival’s 10th anniversary!!
