Where is Moisture Festival being held in 2025?

All Moisture Festival performances are being held at Broadway Performance Hall on Capitol Hill. There may be additional events (for example, lectures or open mics) scheduled elsewhere, and those instances will be clearly communicated.

Is there parking available at Broadway Performance Hall?

Parking is available 24/7 at the Harvard Garage (1609 Harvard Ave.), which is operated by Seattle Central College. For rates, visit Seattle Central’s Public Parking & Transportation page. Metered street parking is also available in the area.

Can I access Broadway Performance Hall via public transportation?

Yes!

By bus: Metro buses 11, 49, and 60 all pass next to, or within a block of, Broadway Performance Hall

By streetcar: Take the Broadway route to the stop at Broadway & Denny.

By light rail: The Capitol Hill Link station is located approximately one block north of the Broadway Performance Hall

Please be sure to double check the time of the final run of your transportation route. Many lines stop service around midnight.

More public transportation details can be found here.

Where do I go when I arrive at the theater?

You will check in with the Onsite Volunteer Coordinator, Ed Lammi (Ed is also our House Manager, so you will likely recognize him if you’ve attended or volunteered at Moisture Festival in the past!). Ed will check you in, make sure you have your badge and gift (on your first shift), and double check that you’ve signed off on the Volunteer Waiver. He will then let you know where to report!

Is there food available at the theater?

Yes! Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages (water, soft drinks, coffee, and tea) are available in our hospitality suite throughout all shifts at the theater. We also offer a hot meal each day (Wed/Thurs/Fri at about 9:15pm and Sat/Sun at about 5:30pm). If you have dietary restrictions or questions about the meal, please talk to the Food & Hospitality Coordinator or a member of the Food & Hospitality team at the theater.

All snacks & meals are offered free of charge as a benefit of volunteering for Moisture Festival.

What should I wear to volunteer?

Whatever makes you comfortable! Many volunteers choose to wear festive attire (hats, wigs, costumes, you name it!), but you are not required to do so. Importantly, be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothes that you can move in.

(Note: All stage crew must wear black clothing and shoes.)

What should I wear if I sign up for the General Tech role?

For the General Tech role, please dress in all black like the Stage Crew. Even though you will be primarily observing & learning, a task may arise where you need to be enlisted for a task!

What is Shiftboard? Do I have to use it?

Shiftboard is Moisture Festival’s online scheduling tool. It is how volunteers can pick up open shifts and we can monitor where we might need additional help on a given day. You can register or sign in at www.shiftboard.com/moisture

If you do not have access to a computer, we can help via phone, but you must plan a phone call with our office staff before the festival starts.  We may not be able to help in a timely manner once the festival is underway. Please email volunteers@moisturefestival.org or call 206-297-1405. Please leave a detailed message if you get voicemail.

I am getting too many emails from Shiftboard. Can I turn this off?

While we often share important information via Shiftboard (Volunteer Orientation details, last minute calls for volunteers, etc), and deeply appreciate your willingness to receive that information, you are able to adjust your notification settings.

Log into Shiftboard, and, under your name in the upper right-hand corner, select ‘My Account’.  At the top of the screen, click on ‘Edit’ and then under ‘Email Notifications’ you can select or deselect the types of notifications you’d like to receive (or not receive).

(If you are in the ‘Admin’ view, you navigate to ‘My Account’ and then select the ‘Notifications’ tab, selecting ‘Send Notifications’ or ‘No Notifications’, and then ‘Update’.)

What if I need to cancel a shift?

You can cancel a shift through Shiftboard up to 5 days in advance of the shift by clicking on that shift and selecting ‘Unconfirm’. If you are not able to unconfirm your shift in Shiftboard for any reason, please email volunteers@moisturefestival.org with the details of the shift you need to cancel.

Is there an age restriction for volunteering for Moisture Festival?

Anyone 18+ can volunteer for any role.

Teens 13-17 can volunteer accompanied by a caregiver. Please remember that some shows are classified as 18+, so be aware of which performances you’re signing up for!

Can a group volunteer together?

We will do our best to accommodate a group that would like to volunteer together– please email volunteers@moisturefestival.org with inquiries.

Can I bring someone along with me to my shift?

While we love it when friends and family members volunteer together, it’s important that each volunteer registers for Shiftboard and signs up for a shift as an individual. This provides a transparent record of who is volunteering for a given shift, and this information is vital to Moisture Festival for reporting reasons.

If you have a friend who is new to volunteering for Moisture Festival, direct them to https://www.shiftboard.com/moisture/.

Do I get complimentary tickets for volunteering?

Most volunteer roles that take place at the theater during a show are not eligible for comp tickets, because you should be able to see much of the show you’re working.

If you perform a volunteer role outside of the theater (for example, Driver, Decor, Builder, etc), you can accrue hours toward comp tickets. Please see the Volunteer Handbook for more details!

Do I have to sign anything before I can volunteer?

Yes, you must read our Volunteer Policies and sign off on them electronically by submitting the 2025 Volunteer Policies Acknowledgment of Receipt form.

We ask that you sign off on this prior to your first shift, to ensure that you have plenty of time to read through the policies fully. If you have not submitted the form prior to your first shift, we will ask you to submit it at the theater, which may delay your volunteer shift slightly.

Who can answer questions for me?

Our staff is delighted to answer your questions and give you all the info you need to set you up for success as a Moisture Festival volunteer! The best way of getting a hold of us is via email at volunteers@moisturefestival.org. You may also call 206-297-1405, but if no one answers, please leave a detailed message so that we can get back to you.

Many answers to your questions are outlined in the Volunteer Handbook, so that may be a good place to check first!
